The Raleigh Tennis Assoc. is sponsoring a futures tournament at Millbrook Tennis Center the weekend of May 29th. You must join the USTA to play (a small fee) and then sign up at the link below. This is the tournament to start with if you are interested in competing and anyone who plans to play high school tennis in the future should be playing tournaments. Cut and paste the link below.

The RTA also sponsors the Raleigh Junior Grand Prix series of tournaments every other weekend in the summer. Jim Rufiange is the tournament director for this series. The matches are held at the Sanderson courts on Sat. and Sun. and the commitment is two hours on Sat. and then two hours on Sunday if you are a top point earner on Sat. You do NOT need to belong to the USTA and the fee is $10 per weekend. This is a good way to learn to compete in tournaments without traveling every weekend. Swim and Tennis Team Sign up on Sunday in the clubhouse from 3-5 PM.
To All Potential Swim Team Parents:
It is hard to believe that Swim Team season is just around the corner. I know that many of you are seasoned veterans when it comes to sign up day. I did, however, want to prepare those who are new to this process. You will have the opportunity to pay for swim team ($35.00 per child), purchase a swimsuit (prices ranging from $31-$50), and sign up for volunteer opportunities (3 per family). You will also receive the swim team practice and meet schedule. Make sure that you have your checkbook (or lots of cash on hand). Also, bring your calendar so that you will know the weeks that you are available to help at the meets. Swim suits will also be available to try on.
If you are unable to attend Sunday's sign up, you will need to do the following. First, come by the office next week to register for swim team. Flyers will be available outside the office door and you can place your payment and form in the door. Second, you will need to go Kast-A-Way located at Pleasant Valley Promenade on Glenwood Avenue by Friday, April 25th to purchase your swim suit. This will assure that your suit will arrive on time. You may want to call before you go and when you arrive make certain that they know you are ordering a suit for the Quail Hollow Swim Team. The volunteer sign up sheets will be posted on opening day. You can also contact Carla Smith via email at carlasmith@nc.rr.com to sign up to volunteer.
On Sunday, our swim coach, McKenna Miller, will be available to answer any questions. McKenna is a teacher at Sanderson High School and coaches their Swim Team. We are excited to have her on board. Joining her coaching staff will be Hanna Samad, Hallie Gillespie and Anna Dozier. I will also be available from 4-5 PM to answer any questions.
Lastly, an update that is pertinent for our young swimmers who may not yet be swimming on their own.
On behalf of our Board of Directors, I wanted to make you aware of a change in our policy for six and under swimmers. This year swimmers must be able to swim to the rope (15 yards) unassisted in order to participate on the swim team. The way they swim the 15 yards does not matter - just that they are able to make it to the rope unassisted. If you are uncertain as to whether or not your child is able to swim the 15 yards, we would recommend not signing up for swim team on Sunday. Instead, you can bring your child to the first day of swim team practice and one of the coaches will evaluate your child. Some current non-swimmers will become swimmers throughout the swim season and will be welcome to join the swim team mid-season. We wanted to make you aware of this change before sign up. More specific questions about this change in policy can be directed to Carla Smith. Swim lessons will be available at the pool. You can also get a jump start by contacting the City of Raleigh, YMCA or Gypsy Divers to see their availability of spring lessons before our pool opens.
I look forward to seeing you on Sunday.
Carla Smith

USTA Mixed Doubles Adult Tennis Teams are forming. If you are interested, email the club and we will share the emails of the players interested. Send your playing level. Three courts of mixed doubles will be played on Sunday at 3 , 5, or 7.
World Team Tennis teams from QH are forming. World Team is a mixed gender team playing two singles, two doubles and two mixed doubles on just two courts. Our teams play against other club and city teams. One match on a weeknight and you do not need to be available every week. Email Wanda Wilson if you are interested. wdw4190@aol.com.
QH is owned and operated by its members. We are always looking for volunteers. Share your talents with us. Every job a volunteer completes, the club saves money for other projects. Recruiting now: someone with a flair for planting to take on the large pots we have around the club. We need the plants purchased and planted before opening day. Email the club if you can help. This would be a great family project.
